»Transitus« heißt das Konzeptalbum, das sich diesmal nicht im Ayreon-Universum bewegt. Stattdessen gibt es eine Gothic-Horrorgeschichte, die im Jahr 1884 spielt. Die Hauptfiguren heißen Abby und Daniel.

Wie immer wird Lucassen von zahlreichen hochkarätigen Gästen unterstützt, darunter der ehemalige Twisted-Sister-Frontmann Dee Snider, der Gitarrenvirtuose Joe Satriani, Simone Simons von Epica, Tommy Karevik von Kamelot, Gitarrist Marty Friedman und viele andere. Als Erzähler fungierte der ehemalige Doctor-Who-Schauspieler Tom Baker.

After Ayreon only released their live album „Electric Castle Live and Other Tales“ at the beginning of 2020, a new studio record of the progressive metal band around the Dutch musician Arjen Lucassen is now coming out.
