Now, with permanent drummer Dan Weiss behind to kit, Dlo3 is proud to present Cold As Weiss, their third studio album to date that finds them tighter than ever, and continuing to push funky instrumental music to a new generation of fans.

Das Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, auch bekannt als DLO3, ist eine amerikanische Soul-Jazz-Gruppe, die 2015 in Seattle gegründet wurde. Die Band hat bislang zwei Alben veröffentlicht: ihr Debütalbum mit dem Titel »Close But No Cigar« (2018) und den Nachfolger »I Told You So« (2021). Beide erreichten Platz eins der U.S. Contemporary Jazz Albums und Platz drei der U.S. Jazz Albums. Die Band selbst nennt ihre Musik »Feel good music« – eine »Booty-Shake-Mischung aus Soul-Jazz der 1960er-Jahre, slinky New-Orleans-Funk, Vintage-Instrumental-Soul und einem Spritzer Acid-Rock-Gitarre«. Und genau die liefern sie 2022 auch auf ihrem neuen, dritten Album »Cold As Weiss«.

Neben Namensgeber und Keyboarder Delvon Lamarr an der Hammond B-3 und Gitarrist Jimmy James ist auf diesem Album erstmals auch der neue Schlagzeuger Dan Weiss zu hören, außerdem das Soul-Funk-Kollektiv The Sextones. Aufgenommen wurde das Album zusammen mit Leroi Conroy im Tupelo House Studio. Das Mixing übernahm Jason Gray im Blue Mallard Studio.

Zu Ankündigung von »Cold As Weiss« veröffentlichte das Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio bereits die erste Single mit dem Titel »Pull Your Pants Up«. Der Bandchef erklärt: »Auf jeder DLO3-Tour müssen wir Jimmy James irgendwann sagen, dass er seine Hose hochziehen soll. Nachdem wir immer und immer wieder von seinem Hintern geblendet wurden, haben wir beschlossen, einen Song darüber zu schreiben!«
