Limited to 1000 ‚Desert Sun‘ Coloured LPs.1997 zog sich Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) mit einer handvoll Freunden in die Wüste von Joshua Tree, CA, zurück, um den Ablenkungen und Annehmlichkeiten des Alltags zu entfliehen. Was als lockere Schreib- und Aufnahmesession unter Freunden begann, ist inzwischen zu einem legendären Projekt geworden: dem längsten Mixtape der Welt! In zwei Dekaden entstanden so nunmehr 12 Desert Sessions und zeigen dabei einige Musik-Ikonen, die aus ihren Komfortzonen heraus kommen um einige der aufregendsten Songs ihrer Karriere zu kreieren.

Fast sechzehn Jahre seit dem Erscheinen des letzten Teils wird Desert Sessions nun endlich mit zwei atemberaubenden neuen Kapiteln fortgesetzt. Vols. 11 & 12 wartet dabei mit Kollaborationen von Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Les Claypool (Primus), Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint), Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), Mike Kerr (Royal Blood), Carla Azar (Autolux, Jack White), Matt Sweeney (Chavez), David Catching (Mitbegründer des Studios Rancho De La Luna), Komiker Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows), Töôrnst Hülpft und Newcomerin Libby Grace auf.

Out of the woodwork, dusty and soiled with cobwebs and mud dauber nests, emerges Desert Sessions. Led by the pale red horse who goes by Josh Homme, the project lasted from 1997-2003 and included artists from all over the rock and roll atlas. Scorched, stoned and sun-kissed riffage in the name of the holy rock, this was the Desert Sessions mantra. And after 16 f-ing years…it has been reborn. HOT DAMN.
