Meteor Vortex is an instrumental heavy psych/space rock/stoner rock power trio from the city of Kouvola, Finland.The Band’s influences vary among the field of stoner-, space- and psych-rock, and influences of bands such as Earthless, Hawkwind, Electric Moon and Hidria Spacefolk can be spotted.

Overall, the sound is little bit tilted towards the European-style psychedelic rock instead of approaches that are more common in Finland and other Nordic countries when it comes to related genres. It’s typical for the band’s songs to be of jam-principle, somewhat lengthy, repetitive, evolving, meditative and captivating. Songs are more or less conjured into existence through jamming and improvisation in the moment between the band members.

What comes to the trio’s sound itself, it relies on firm foundations of vivid, dynamic drumming and melodic, heavy rolling bass lines topped with swirling and trip inducing guitars that keeps the spirit of the song alive. Sometimes hard hitting, sometimes on the more mellow side, but always mezmerising.

Started off in summer of 2016, and after two self-released EPs, the stars have guided the band to prepare for the release of their debut full-length album, „Spiraled Beyond The Reach“. Album was recorded by Tom Brooke at Tonehaven Recording Studio in Finnish countryside in the middle of January 2019, during the coldest week of the winter. Brooke, who has worked with many bands of the Finnish scene of the same styles captured the songs that have been in existence for a while and also heard in group’s live rotation slowly but steadily evolving into completion, and now these pieces of music got their proper recorded form.
