Play That Rock’n’Roll has become exactly the album of a band that has spent thirty years uninterruptedly on the street.„Ain`t going to stop until I stop it, ain`t going to let it go until I drop it“, knurrt Supersuckers-Frontmann Eddie Spaghetti in ‚Ain`t Gonna Stop‘, dem Opener des 13. Studioalbums seiner Band.

„Ain’t going to stop until I stop it, ain’t going to let it go until I drop it“, growls Supersuckers frontman Eddie Spaghetti in „Ain’t Gonna Stop“, the opener of his band’s 13th studio album. Recorded in Willie Nelson’s studio in Austin, Texas, Play That Rock’n’Roll rocks with amphetamine-enhanced intensity, delivers muscular riffs and big choruses on four hot and pressing days and has far more than just cheap tricks up its sleeve

Raw, direct and often hilarious, Play That Rock’n’Roll has become exactly the album of a band that has spent thirty years uninterruptedly on the street (except for a one-year break while Eddie struggled with throat cancer). No frills, no guest stars, no collaborations: This album deserves to be heard because you can feel that the Supersuckers are passionate about it

Songs like „Bringing It Back“ and „Last Time Again“ deliver a wall of sound reminiscent of the Ramones, with kind regards from guitarist ‚Metal‘ Marty Chandler, while „You Ain’t The Boss Of Me“ reminds of the Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap era of AC/DC, but should not be taken too seriously. In addition, Eddie and his two companions make sure that the famous Supersuckers irony also shines through in „That’s A Thing?“ and „Gettin‘ Into Each Other’s Pants“. The album also features a rousing cover version of Michael Monroe’s „Dead, Jail Or Rock’n’Roll“ and a long overdue revival of A Certain Girl by Allen Toussaint

All in all, Play That Rock’n’Roll shows the famous middle finger and delivers the kind of Rock’n’Roll you’ve come to expect from this band since signing Sub Pop in the early 1990s. The Suckers combine the wildness of Motörhead and the quirky humour of Cheap Trick with the pride of a Steve Earle. The band has earned its spurs in countless concerts, from dingy underground clubs to the Tonight Show

For 30 years the group has been delivering consistently at the highest level, or as Eddie Spaghetti puts it: „The Supersuckers have been around for a long time. For a very long time! And the fact that we still exist has good reason. We still love Rock’n’Roll, there is no alternative to it. And also no other explanation why we still release fresh, new rock music today. Okay, nobody NEED them, but hell! – almost everyone WILL her! So, voila: another masterpiece in best Rock’n’Roll quality. Of course, this disc is made for a few, for the proud, for people with impeccable taste, for connoisseurs of quality, but it makes us happy to know that we can still do it. Maybe we’re even better than ever before, and that’s what makes it so exciting. So here she is, our declaration of love to true, ass-kicking rock’n’roll. So turn it on, turn it on and hear how the Supersuckers play the real rock’n’roll!“
