Mit »Portrait« präsentiert Yann Tiersen eine Sammlung von 25 neu aufgenommenen Stücken aus allen Phasen seiner Karriere, darunter drei neue Songs. Das Album, das in Tiersens vor nicht allzu langer Zeit erst fertiggestellten Eskal-Studio auf seiner Heimatinsel Ouessant live auf 24-Spur-2-Zoll-Band aufgenommen, sodann im Stereo-Mix direkt auf ¼-Zoll-Band gemischt und von dort auf Vinyl gemastert wurde, entstand zusammen mit einer Reihe an Gastmusiker*innen, darunter John Grant, Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), Stephen O’Malley (SunO)))) und Blonde Redhead.
Die initiale Idee für die Aufnahmen hatte Tiersen während der Proben zur ALL-Tour, als er erkannte, wie gut die hierfür erdachten neuen Arrangements alter sowie neuer Stücke ineinandergriffen und so etwas neues erschaffen.
Recorded in Yann’s home studio in Ushant with an array of collaborators. Features 3 tracks originally featured on the Amelie From Montmartre soundtrack including Yann’s signature tune, Comptine d’Un Autre Été (L’Après-Midi). Includes collaborations with John Grant, Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), Blonde Redhead and Stephen O’Malley from Sunn O)))
All vinyl editions will be packaged with an exclusive 7” single including alternative versions of Comptine d’Un Autre Été (L’ Après-Midi) from the Amelie From Montmartre soundtrack and the title track from his debut album, Waltz of the Monsters. These versions are exclusive to the vinyl and not available anywhere else.
